Additional fees for these programs may include:
- Any costs associated with needed educational resources (such as textbooks, resources that might benefit you studying from home or remotely, etc.)
- Depending on your courses, textbooks may cost approximately $500 per year (around $50 per credit hour)
- Travel expenses related to your one-time mandatory visit to the New Orleans campus for your Immersion Weekend, as students are responsible for their own lodging, airfare and transportation

Your application for financial aid for the online MJ programs at Tulane Law School begins with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You must fill out the FAFSA in order to be eligible for aid awards at Tulane. These awards are granted on a rolling basis, so you should submit your FAFSA as early as possible in order to give yourself the best opportunity to receive one in advance of your target start date.

Tulane also participates in the Federal Direct Loan Program. Federal Direct Loans are made by the U.S. Department of Education.

The Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan has traditionally helped graduate and professional students borrow up to their cost of attendance, minus any other financial aid received. Beginning July 1, 2026, federal student loan rules are changing under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (H.R.1). These changes affect Graduate PLUS Loan eligibility and federal borrowing limits.
Please note that Tulane Financial Aid cannot process federal loans once the aid period for which the loans are intended has ended, or after the student has ceased attendance, whichever comes first. This deadline is in effect for federal educational loans for either a student or their parents. The federal deadline for federal educational loan origination is by the end of the award period for the loan, so federal educational loans in virtually every case must have been disbursed while the student is still in attendance in the academic period for which the loans are intended. We strongly recommend that students and/or parents communicate and finalize their borrowing intentions at least one month prior to the end of each semester.
Institutional Scholarships and Grants
At the graduate and/or professional student level, the offering of gift aid (scholarship) is extremely limited. For example, the U.S. Department of Education offers no need-based grant programs designated for student enrolled in a graduate or professional degree program, as all of their grant offerings are strictly limited to undergraduate students.

External Scholarships and Grants
Students are encouraged to research and apply for outside scholarship opportunities via a library's reference section, through online searches, by asking local organizations, or by using a personalized search engine. One such personalized search engine is FastWeb, which compares your demographic and personal information with a robust database of scholarship listings to identify scholarship opportunities for which you might be eligible. Application information and deadlines are provided.

Military Benefits
Degree-granting institutions of higher learning participating in the Post-9/11 GI Bill® Yellow Ribbon Program agree to make additional funds available for your education program without an additional charge to your GI Bill® entitlement.
Tulane University accepts a limited number of Yellow Ribbon applications for each academic year beginning in the fall semester.
- Applications will be accepted on a first come/first serve basis or placed on a waitlist, if necessary
- A new Yellow Ribbon application is required once per academic year. If you submitted a Yellow Ribbon Application in fall, you do not need to complete another application for the following spring semester
