Professor Mariya Volzhskaya is an attorney at the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, a federal agency, where she previously served as an Appeals Analyst. Ms. Volzhskaya has a variety of experience in Employment and Labor Law. She served as an attorney advisor for the U.S. Army where her work involved EEO and labor issues in the civilian workforce of a military installation. She also served as Assistant District Counsel for the Army Corps of Engineers. She has practiced law in Chicago, Illinois, southern Spain, Washington, DC, and Portland, OR, and is now based out of Jacksonville, Florida. Ms. Volzhskaya founded a family and employment advocacy organization to serve the military community while abroad and is heavily involved with the Military Spouse JD Network, a Bar association for military spouse attorneys. She graduated from Tulane University Law School in 2012. Her areas of expertise include pension benefits and employment law, and she is interested in how the legal profession is approaching the advent of machine learning and Generative AI. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her spouse, Adam, and her three amazing kids. Some of her hobbies include learning to use power tools, furniture refinishing, gardening, and crocheting.
